slowing down

June is usually a slow month for me. Most of the school year and all the activities that accompany it are over. Life seems to slow for a few weeks before the summer vacations and beach days begin. I love the quiet and dreaminess of it.

I am enjoying each day. Catching up on books that had to be put aside, scanning rolls of film that I didn’t have time to scan, sitting with my favorite people and enjoying each other’s slow pace and exorbitant amount of time we seem to have on our hands.

What about you? Does summer change your speed? Do things slow down long enough for you to treasure the minutes instead of rushing through to get to the end of the day? Whatever your summer holds, may you enjoy every second… and capture some of it as a souvenir of time savored.

  1. Love love love these portraits! I’m trying to do more of those I love. Thanks for sharing 🙂 Oh, also, are you using the default 85mm lens on your hassy?

    • Thank you! I have the 80mm on my Hasselblad. I love it. I have a 55mm with my Mamiya and I love that more.

      • Haha – just the 80 and 55, huh? No 85 😉 OK – cool. Yeah, I use the 80mm on mine but haven’t done much portrait work with it, so I was wondering.

  2. My speed changes during the summer but only a tiny bit. I still have house chores and my three children to look after. However, I do feel the need to rush less… Beautiful images, as always. xo

  3. Oh my goodness! These portraits are sensational! She is so very beautiful.
I have to admit I don’t slow down much over the summer as I only get two weeks off but I make the most of those two weeks. x

  4. these photographs are beautiful, Staci.

it’s just this week that I’m feeling the slowing down of summer…it’s very welcome.
