In the Streets

I hit the streets on Saturday, and maybe you did too.

I charged my batteries and cleared my CF card. I slapped on my favorite lens (my nifty 50, of course) and my rain slicker. I laced up my boots and I set out to capture the day in the most photo journalistic way I knew how. I remembered the words of one of my photography professors who once told us, “If you want interesting photos, put yourself in interesting places….”

And so I did just that on Saturday, the 21st of January, 2017.What I felt was that day was love.
What I saw were signs (of hope, outrage, and calls for peace and equality).
What I heard were prayers. In the form of song, in the form of music, in the form of chants.

(If you want to see more of my day and a little bit more about how I personally FELT on Saturday and these past few days post-march, you can hop over to my personal blog)

Keep chasing that light, Vanessa

  1. You did a great job capturing the day! I went to a gathering here but didn’t take as many photos as I’d planned. For me it was uplifting just to be there.❤️

    • Thank you Leslie. It felt good to do some street photography like this. Something I haven’t done in a long time.
