Days of Discovery

One week ago we were winging our way to Seattle, a city I’d never visited before. I was excited to see our son, who moved from Chicago to Seattle in June, and also to explore a new place! Cameras in hand, I was ready for the adventure of seeing new sights and learning about this city so many people love.

The Fremont area of Seattle was our home base for the long weekend, and it’s a very walkable neighborhood. We logged quite a few miles as we wandered the streets and enjoyed the shops, parks and urban art in Fremont, Capitol Hill, Ballard, and Pioneer Square. It would be hard to say what sights I enjoyed the most, perhaps because all of it was new. I often find I need to sit with the memories a while after returning from a trip. I suppose that’s why I’m so determined to capture as many images as I can. Pulling up those images on my laptop, culling the best ones, and editing my favorites all give me a chance to reflect and enjoy the moments once more.As you can see, we covered a lot of ground in just a few days, and the sights were quite varied from place to place. And we were lucky to find clear skies and moderate temperatures throughout most of our trip.

With the winter season and holidays soon arriving, this will be our last travel “hurrah” for a while. But the chilly months ahead give me plenty of time to plan our future adventures!

P.S. Seattle, we’ll be back!

    • Thanks, Michelle! It was so fun to explore a new city.

    • Yes, Deb! Somehow it’s always color I capture. (The changing seasons helped, too!)
