On my last blog post, I shared Andy’s thoughts on the Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 lens. I thought I would throw it on my camera and take it out for a spin. I knew the tulips were blooming at Descanso Gardens, our local botanical garden, so I thought I would head there.

It is a great little lens. Andy was right, this lens is so small and light, it makes my Canon 5Diii feel light. It enabled me to get close to the beautiful spring blooms.

A tulip doesn’t strive to impress anyone. It doesn’t struggle to be different than a rose. It doesn’t have to. It is different. And there’s room in the garden for every flower.

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.

Is there a lens you have wanted to try lately? Or a lens you have newly discovered that seems to be stuck on your camera right now?

  1. Wow, between viewing your husband’s photos and looking at yours I am sold on the pancake lens. I plan on going out to buy one this week! Your pictures are beautiful. I can’t wait until Spring has finally sprung here in Connecticut!
