Summer’s lease

For many of us it is almost over. Summer. The months of sunshine, outdoor fun, and longer days are coming to an end. It felt wonderful to be out with my camera in the warmth of the sun’s rays and enjoy the longer days with more light. In fact, it felt so good I really don’t feel like transitioning to cooler weather, leaves falling, boots and itchy sweaters all day long. I dream of keeping my sandals on for longer, sitting out in my backyard with some chilled wine, and enjoying the sound of my children jumping in the pool or crashing into waves.

However, Shakespeare said it best: “Summer’s lease hath all too short a date.”. Thus, because I know it is almost gone, I’m thinking I am more than happy that I took advantage of this beautiful season to get outside and shoot! Once again, for the third year in a row, I shot mostly film, a mix of different stocks I had in my freezer. The results? Happy memories for me and mostly mood-boosting images for my cooler fall feelings.

Goodbye, summer.

  1. The ice cream photograph is my favorite . . . I love the beauty of film. And somehow this handful of pictures perfectly captures summer far more thoughtfully than a hard drive folder of a hundred files.

  2. Is it three years of shooting film already? You’re a natural. Every one of these images is a stunner.
