My friend Autumn

Have you met my friend autumn yet? She arrived here a week or two ago, and I am thrilled to see her again. It’s been a long time.

She brought with her a lot of rain this time. They say the rain that came during the first week of September was as much as it usually rains during the whole month. Strangely enough, I didn’t mind, I have started riding my bike to and from work, and I find it strangely … something? I can’t quite find the right word … to drive through the rain in my waterproof clothes, water trickling down my face. It is not altogether pleasant exactly, though perhaps a little. Refreshing might be a better word. And of course, sitting inside while it rains is always cozy.

Autumn joined us on a trip last Sunday, to the Farmers’ Market in the Botanical Gardens. The market was crawling – or literally, flying – with lazy wasps hovering around the food stalls. I am a little terrified of wasps (and I think it is possible to be a little terrified, even though terrified means a lot scared), but they were so slow now that they weren’t that bothersome.

We ate svele with sour cream, a sort of fat Norwegian pancake, and drank homemade raspberry cordial. I brought home a bunch of rainbow carrots and some eggs.

I brought home one more thing too. Can you spot what it was on the right-hand side of the second image above? Yes, you are right – polaroids. Because yet again autumn prods me towards photography. I brought along an expired Impossible Project film for my Polaroid 600. The film shows its age (and in a way it was a bit of a shock to me that I had expired IP film, because hasn’t the Impossible Project just started? How time passes.), but I still had a lot of fun with it, and can’t wait for the next opportunity to head out with another pack from the stash in my film.

Are you a friend of autumn too? Give her my regards, the next time you hang out with her.
