nothing is insignificant

It never fails, every November I hit a wall and feel a loss of creativity.  During these days of covid, I’ve counted on daily picture taking to help keep me sane.  Unfortunately, when the world becomes all brown and gray (as it does here in New England this month) I feel uninspired.

But then I come across this quote –

“If your everyday life appears to be unworthy subject matter, do not complain to life. Complain to yourself. Lament that you are not poet enough to call up its wealth. For the creative artist there is no poverty — nothing is insignificant or unimportant.”

                                                  Rainer Maria Rilke

and somehow I’m rejuvenated.  I remember there is still light and light is everything.  In the right light, a pile of garbage can become a thing of beauty (well, almost).

I have a feeling it’s going to be a long winter

I’m posting that quote on my refrigerator.

  1. Hi Susan. Same here – posting the quote on my refrigerator. I feel the same as winter approaches, a need to seek the light and notice everything. Beautiful tones on that table by the window!

  2. Susan, you have a wonderful knack for finding the light. Keep up the good work!
