Here we are four days into spring, raindrops scattering across my skylight, a slight chill in the air and I couldn’t be more satisfied. At least the with the weather. And work. That’s going well for the first time in two years even if it has me exhausted in that good way of a job well done, or at least well on its way. It looks to be a busy couple of months.

The rest of the world is another story, as I’m sure you know. What the hell is going on out there? My belief in humanity at large holds strong, but my disbelief at the insanity of others shakes me with anger and fury that could quickly reach a boiling point if I’d let it. Or into depression and sadness and despair if my emotions go another way.

Maybe you’re in that same place too. And maybe, like me, you too carry a camera in your pocket, and you turn it towards purples and yellows and pinks and petals and all the life bursting up from the ground, or really, whatever beauty surrounds you.

In the meantime, I’m trying to balance those emotions out with beauty and gratitude and tucking myself into the artistry that surrounds my city streets and dwells within the hearts of the mighty helping the world. Giving where I can. Living with purpose because it’s possible.

All these photos are a few years old. The daffodils are just popping up and only a few scant trees are pushing out petals, but it’s ready to happen. After this rain, I’m sure the pressure of dormant life has built to the bursting point in my neighborhood’s natural surroundings will pop in another explosion of pinks and creams and greens against a backdrop of blue skies or grey clouds and rays of sunshine.

I hope to fill my front planter with pansies again, paint my toenails in pastel Easter colors, soak up the sunshine when it returns and feel lucky to be alive. And safe. And growing in ways that perhaps only I can tell, but at least I know I’m trying.

And light. I’m eeking light through my cameras. Lightness though music and words. Community through friendship and connecting here with you. How about you? How are you doing these days? What’s new in your worlds? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.

Until next time,
