Viewfinders manifesto # 6: We believe in the transcendent power of really good light.
Since I first became passionate about photography, I have played with light in all its many forms. Whether the resulting images are abstract, dreamlike, or hyper-realistic, my goal always is to see the light in a way that will create magic and movement and a sense of wonder.
George Eastman said that “light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.”
“What makes photography a strange invention is that its primary raw materials are light and time.” –John Berger
“Wherever there is light, one can photograph.” — Alfred Stieglitz
“In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary.” – Aaron Rose.
“The artist’s vocation is to send light into the human heart.” – Robert Schumann.
We want to see your light-filled images! Tag your photos on instagram with the #viewfindersio tag. We’ll be featuring them here in the weeks ahead.
