September always brings a schedule full of things that must be done. And while I love the consistency that a schedule brings, the freedom of empty summer days seems to bring a different type of tired that is hard to get used to.
This September is very different than the past Septembers, however. This year I went back to school. And while I am excited for this next phase of life, I am also nervous, scared, and a little overwhelmed.
The coast always brings me peace. It is where I go to find my center. It is beautiful, unpredictable, and dangerous all at once, very much like life.
“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”
Jacques Cousteau
“The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach – waiting for a gift from the sea.”
Anne Morrow Lindbergh
“There’s nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times it’s sent away.”
Sarah Kay
“Why do we love the sea? It is because it has some potent power to make us think things we like to think.”
Robert Henri
