There’s a song that comes up on my music feed often that inspired this month’s “Birds on Wire” topic for my Jar of Inspiration project.
It’s called “Two Birds” by Regina Spektor. The song begins:
“Two birds on a wire
One tries to fly away
And the other
watches him close from that wire
He says he wants to as well
But he is a liar…”
As I listen to the song, I’m reminded how easy it is to SAY I want to do something or try something, but actually following through with it is much harder. I often SAY that I want to spend more time creating, but I find excuses for why I can’t or I let other things take priority. I SAY that I want to learn more about a specific photography technique, but I don’t put in the effort it requires to master the skill. I SAY that I want to be able to do what so-and-so is already doing, but I justify not trying because it’s already been done.
Perhaps I should just try to fly rather than watching others from my safe spot on the sidelines….
Not a liar – Angie

So good!
Funny, I see bird on a wire and I immediately think Leonard Cohen, your song gave the phrase a whole new meaning for me. And I completely understand your sentiments – so often I feel the same. Otherwise I’d certainly be the boss of my flash by now!
