Today, in the United States, we celebrate Thanksgiving. It’s a day that stands as a reminder to count our blessings. It’s a day that stands as a reminder to consider the bounty in our lives.
Bounty looks different to different people; it feels different to different people. I wonder what you think of when you hear that word.
Today, I share with you some glimpses of my bounty. My camera is the tool to which I turn when my heart is full; it’s also the tool to which I turn when I’m feeling less-full or overwhelmed or confused. With my camera, I recognize and honor (and am reminded of ) the goodness in my life. With my camera, I create small prayers that, I hope, ripple out into the world.
We think we have to do something to be grateful or something has to be done
in order for us to be grateful, when gratitude is a state of being.
~Iyanla Vanzant~
Gratitude, like faith, is a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it grows, and the more power you have to use it on your behalf. If you do not practice gratefulness, its benefaction will go unnoticed, and your capacity to draw on its gifts will be diminished. To be grateful is to find blessings in everything. This is the most powerful attitude to adopt, for there are blessings in everything.
~Alan Cohen~
Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer.
~Maya Angelou~
