I just returned from a long weekend in Portland, Oregon. I took four cameras. I know, I under-packed. I was expecting to see some fall colors and I was not disappointed. Oregon, unlike here in Southern California, is covered in lovely yellow, reds, and orange. I was thrilled. One morning, I took my Polaroid iType out for a walk through a small local park.
My first image was fine, but each image after the first came out with scratches. I was so disappointed. I tried to find what was scratching the images, but I didn’t find the culprit.
This is the heartbreak of film. There was nothing I could do. After the film pack was done, I cleaned the rollers and dusted the inside of the camera. I didn’t see what was causing the scratches, but my next film pack came out fine. In the end, I have decided to look at these mistakes as spooky ghosts wanting a portrait. It is October, after all.

Oooh – LOVE that last frame! Also, this made me chuckle: “I took four cameras. I know, I under-packed.”

Thank you. I love that one too: it was the only one without a scratch on it. I am so glad my sarcasm came out in the type.
