Still, what I want in my life
is to be willing
to be dazzled—
to cast aside the weight of facts
and maybe even
to float a little
above this difficult world.
–Mary Oliver
During these past months, the world indeed has shown itself to be a difficult place. The facts are weighty. There’s nothing that I can say that has not been said by my fellow ViewFinders — the world, and our lives, are unalterably changed.
And yet the rhythm of my days has helped carry me through. And the great good fortune of this stay-at-home order being issued just as spring was emerging has been a hidden gift. Spring has come on slowly here on Cape Cod, with cold nights and cool days — it is unfurling in tiny glimpses, then bold splashes of color, offering up new treasures every day.
And so “I am willing to be dazzled” by spring on my daily walks, and to “float above this difficult world” for a time. Join me, won’t you?
All my love! — lucy

Lucy, Thank you for this bright and welcoming start to my day! I love your photo of the wild turkeys strutting down the road! There is a group of wild turkeys that gathers in a field near my home in the early evening. I’ve noticed them several times, always without my camera nearby. Inspired by you, I’ll make a plan to be near their spot on the next warm and sunny evening!

Any time …
I can see you taking this images. Each time, with a smile on your face.
