Connections

Today, as it happens, is my birthday.

I didn’t realise until I had children myself the importance of birthdays not only for the person that was born but for the person that did the birthing. And I didn’t realise until my own mother passed out of time how much I have taken for granted that connection to the generations that came before me, and the pain of it being cut off.

So today I’m both looking for and being grateful for each and every connection. In these images I went for an easy way of illustrating connections – juxtaposition – but I will be looking for others as I go about my day with my camera.
