A while ago a photographer whom I follow on social media referred to the art of “making a picture” as opposed to simply “taking a picture”, and it was a sentiment that struck a chord with me.
When you often shoot with licensing in mind (as I do), it’s easy to lose track of the art and artistry involved with making pictures, and instead become too fixated with getting a shot that might sell.
So recently, whenever I have had my camera with me, and whenever I have sat at my computer with my editing software open, I have made sure that I occasionally remind myself to make some pictures.
What follows is a sample of what I’ve made over the last few months.
Are they commercially desirable? Largely no.
Are they technically perfect? Again no.
Do they make me happy? Yes.
And sometimes that is more than enough.
I agree! The ones we love because we saw them in our hearts are the best!
Ohhhh. The flying birds in pink light. Big love!
