I love a good project. Really love them. But, in the last few years I’ve found it harder to stick with them. My kids keep getting bigger, and life keeps on changing and morphing – all good and necessary things, but it’s been a pretty big shift in my art/photography creation self. There’s one project, though, that I keep coming back to, and it’s one that I started on a whim.
Based on Courtney Cerruti’s One Color a Day book, I started creating a little watercolor dot every day. A little color that feels the day – be that my favorite meal, the weather (often), mood, activities, whatever strikes me. It continues to bring me so much joy.
I keep a little jar of water and brush at my desk with a couple of small watercolor palettes – ones I can easily bring along if I’m traveling – and I pull them out for those few moments of calm in my days. I love it. I really really love it.
I’ve never ever considered myself a painter, a color master, or anything of that nature. What I know is this one makes me happy. When was the last time you picked up a paintbrush? I dare you – double dog dare you – to grab one today.
All the best,
Alison
Ha! I am useless at painting. But I have started journaling, so baby steps for me.
