My craving for color in the winter doesn’t feel that unlike my cravings for good food. In autumn I try to absorb whatever color is left and I hold onto that feeling as well as I can until color returns sometime in the spring. It’s officially spring now, but tell that to the landscape! The earliest spring bulbs are out, but it’s still mostly it’s shades of brown and gray and the trees are still bare.
In early March when it was still actually winter I went to the Spring Bulb Show at the Smith College Botanic Garden to get a color top off. I brought my Nikon F100 with a roll of Ektar film and was relieved that the sun poked through the clouds enough that I could use it. I developed the images at home.

The riot of colors filled me up quickly. But I have been missing even the more subtle hues and filled up on those too.

Then we headed back out into the bleakness of winter, but my heart felt lifted.

Oh my goodness, these are gorgeous. I love all the colour!
Thanks Jacqui! I feel like I am finally getting the hang of developing/digitizing, too! Thank you for inspiring me to start.
I went to that show with my daughter a few years ago and it was spectacular. Love these springy images!
Thanks Lucy! I try to get there every year but usually manage only every other year or so. I brought my mom this time. I’d be happy to meet you there one year!
Ektar is just the best – my all time favorite! These are gorgeous!!
