We’ve all got them: images on our phone camera rolls that have never been, and may never be, shared. (No, not those sort of images! Stop sniggering at the back there!)
“Snaps” that we took because something caught our eye, or pleased or amused us. The day to day moments that something compelled us to capture, but which we didn’t share: because we didn’t think they were good enough; or interesting enough; or because they didn’t fit with the “vibe” or aesthetic of our Instagram grid or Facebook feed at the time; or simply because we forgot about them.
So this month I have scrolled back through my camera roll and am bringing to the light of day some of those moments captured recently which made me smile, or pleased me, or which I wanted to remember. Why don’t you do the same?
Planting out broad bean plants that I had grown from seed.
A butterfly that had over-wintered in my office, and which wanted to head out into the world and the weak late winter sun.
Our new cat, Ronnie, contained in the living room, but always peeking.
A time capsule of sorts. Over the past few months my husband has slowly been dismantling the large and elaborate tree house that we had built for our kids when we first moved to our current home. It had a main platform with a cabin, an aerial bridge that linked to a second platform with lookout post, a climbing wall, fireman’s pole, and a tunnel slide. All that now remains is the cabin on its platform, and when we finally got around to opening the door – after a good many years – we found the inside untouched by weather or rodents, and our kids’ toys exactly where they would have left them the last time they played there. This box of Bob The Builder toys and a Bear in the Big Blue House book brought back so many memories.
Gardening in a t shirt for the first time this year. (It was back to a jumper and coat the following week!)
One of those pleasing moments of light and shadow during the course of the day.
Ronnie again – on a kitchen adventure and already fully aware of where the deli chicken is kept!
