Years ago a friend of mine decided she’d prefer a River Birch in her front garden instead of the Japanese Maple she’d received from her father-in-law. It wasn’t thriving in its spot and with limited space in her city garden, she offered it to me. Never one to resist a free tree, let alone free plant, I gladly accepted and for the first year since this baby arrived, it’s finally providing a show!

I’m not positive, but I suspect it has more to do with fertilising this year and treating for disease, but I couldn’t be happier. Sometimes a little extra love and care is all a potted tree in a back city garden needs! I hope you’re enjoying and capturing the seasons wherever you may be.

Until next time,
