The Light at Home

Lately, I’ve been thinking about home. Truth be told, I think about home a lot: where it is, what it is, who it is. Of course, home is more than a physical space. It has to do with love, safety, and connection. And if we’re lucky, the physical spaces we call home embody these qualities.

I’ve been thinking about my childhood home a lot lately. And when I do, I always think about the light.

And although I haven’t lived in that house for over twenty years, I think I’ve been trying to find that light everywhere else where I’ve made a home.

Forever observing the light spilling in through all those windows…

Tracing its path across the surfaces throughout all those houses…

Always marveling at the shadows and shapes created in its wake…

Thankful for its faithful glow and marveling at its beauty…

So here’s to the practice of seeing the light wherever we may find ourselves, which is really another way of saying that I wish you love, safety, and connection.

  1. What a beautiful way to start my day – like a picture poem and a prayer. I love the way you notice. xo
