Lake Tahoe on Film

Lake Tahoe is a freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada of the Western United States, straddling the border between California and Nevada. It is the largest alpine lake in North America and the second deepest after Crater Lake in Oregon. It is home to a few ski resorts, summer outdoor recreation, and gorgeous scenery enjoyed throughout the year. It is also one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen and only a four hour drive from our house.

A few years ago I wrote a post about visiting Lake Tahoe and mostly using my phone to take photos. We visited Lake Tahoe again two weekends ago and, this time, I only shot film, most specifically my Pentax 67ii and some Kodak Ektar 100 and Kodak Gold 200. When I got my scans back, I gasped in surprise, not only because I loved the results but also because the lake was the most beautiful I had seen it in years and I was ecstatic that I had managed to capture some of its beauty during this trip.

However, the lake is so beautiful that images of it do not do it justice. Here are some of my favorite images but if you ever have the chance, go see it in person and you will see how captivating and stunning it is.

Happy summer!
