One of the great things about having left my day-job (and there are SO many great things!) is having the time to play around with my camera. One of my short-term business goals is to significantly expand the number of stock images I have for sale so I’m spending a good amount of time these days in my home studio playing with my food.
This week I decided to focus on ingredients. One of my friends says that pomegranates are the sexiest of all fruits. She is not wrong. The seeds are like jewels.
And who can resist oranges with stems? Not this girl. In the middle of a central Canadian winter, citrus season at the market brings a welcome hit of warmth.
I decided to pull out all the stops – backdrops, fabrics, props – to try to make some more classic-style still life shots than are usual for me.
There’s so much going on right now and I’m still finding my way and charting my course for my new life. At this time I’m more grateful than ever to be able to create these moments of stillness and the thing I know for sure is that in the creation – when I am arranging and styling and shooting – I am right where I’m supposed to be.

These images are so great! If you ever hold a food styling and photography workshop, count me in!
