untitledYesterday was my birthday. I turned 44. I read somewhere that 44 marks the start of a mid-life crisis. And yet, I don’t really feel depressed or unhappy. In fact, it is quite the opposite. I feel like I am ready  to sit back, relax a little, and start enjoying all the valuable things in my life.PotatoTree

Here are some thoughts on turning 44.

1. It’s hard to accept the changes in my body but I WILL accept them.

2. Sleeping an average of 6 hours is no fun at all.

3. I love the wrinkles in my smiling eyes.

4. It’s ok to have a messy house, but it’s also feels great when it’s not messy.

5. Speaking out my opinions is fantastic. Not giving two hoots about what people think of them is even better.

6. Wine tastes so much better than when I was 22.

7. It’s great to make other people feel special. It’s great to make yourself feel unique too.

8. Discussing politics with a group of friends is a stressful waste of time.

9. Riding my bike with my family is now one of my favorite things.

10. Not everybody finds their passion. I’m very lucky I found mine. I love you, photography.

It’s going to be wonderful to be 44. Happy birthday to me. –  Maite
