When I’m in New York, I want to walk down the street and feel this thing, like I’m in a movie. ~Ryan Adams
My husband had a business trip to New York, and I got to go along as a stowaway. It was beautiful to wander the streets with a photographer friend I met almost ten years ago online in Flickr’s heyday, Deirdre Malfatto. Deirdre treated me to the perfect New York afternoon. We had lunch at a Jewish Dairy and went to the Tenement Museum. But mostly, it was a dream to hug the neck of a woman I had grown to love online.
While we wandered the streets, I could not stop looking up. We don’t have the old, tall buildings that New York has. I wonder what stories they could tell. I wonder what stories they still have to tell.
My favorite thing about New York is the people, because I think they’re misunderstood. I don’t think people realize how kind New York people are. ~Bill Murray
One can’t paint New York as it is, but rather as it is felt. ~Georgia O’Keefe
