I’ve been saturated by anxiety lately. Consumed by how much is beyond my control and overwhelmed by all that is going wrong in the world. At the height of this anxiety, a friend posted my favorite Mary Oliver poem, I Worried. It was a moment of exhale and a wonderful perspective shift.
"Finally I saw that worrying had come to nothing. And gave it up. And took my body and went out into the morning, and sang." I Worried, by Mary Oliver
And so I set down my thoughts, picked up my camera, and went to breathe in the garden.
I love the vibrant colors! Lantana, zinnias, lythrum, bee balm, marigolds, geraniums, petunias, and daylilies have been blooming with reckless abandon in our backyard.
I brought out my Diana F+ to play with multi exposures and the light!
Shadow and light. Inhale. Exhale.
Peace and hope amid the bees, butterflies, and grasshoppers. A beautiful distraction.

What a beautiful antidote to anxiety. I love the colors and always the garden, but what speaks to me most . . . the practice of play. Maybe it’s okay to take a breath and hold life lightly?
Oh my goodness!
It’s almost as if I can feel the flower power from these images. Big love.
Is color therapy a thing? I think maybe it could be.
But most of all I love the sense of abandon and play in these. I can feel your exhale, friend.
