Each year, I choose a word to guide my year. A word that I spend time with each month. A word that stretches me and guides me.
Sometimes it’s a playful, or creative word. Other years, my words have more depth and meaning. This year, I chose “Authentic” – or rather, it chose me.
For the month of May, I took an (almost) daily photo of my ordinary life. I used my Polaroid and captured one photo a day. I made a decision to capturing my life authenticity – just as it is, not as I imagine it to be.
Here are a few of my favorites from my practice.
Pausing in the moment to spend some time with my art, with my craft each day was delightful. Thinking about it through the lens of “Authenticity” stretched me in ways I didn’t know was possible.
I loved this practice, and I look forward to doing this again!
Do you choose a word for the year?

This is such a great idea, Azzari. I love the way you’re incorporating the word into your creative practices. So intentional! Thanks for sharing these images. I need to get in the Polaroid game! π
So very you. In all the best ways.
Thank you.
