I do like to be beside the sea, and one of our favourite places to go is Bray in Co. Wicklow, a seaside town a 20 km drive away from Dublin city centre, or a coastal rail trip on the DART.

It has a small harbour filled with swans who nip if you don’t feed them quickly enough, a long promenade to stroll in fine weather, and it has a hill to climb for a better view and an extra bit of exercise.

Its Harbour walls are covered in bright orange maritime lichen and the pebbles on the beach are filled with fossilised coral.

The pigeons are a bit mad,

and being on the east coast, if you want to see the sun on the horizon you’ll have to get up early in the morning.
And now I want to visit here too!
