Our family recently roadtripped down to Mammoth Cave National Park in Western Kentucky. It’s the longest known cave system in the world, and we were all really excited to do all the cave tours we possibly could. Being the documenter of our family’s adventures, taking photos in the dark was the major task at hand. Fortunately, I have all of the major technological advances at my advantage, and I feel really pleased with a lot of the images I came away with, despite the huge lack of light at the main focus of our trip.

Did I crank the ISO up really dang high? Of course I did.

Did I hand-hold a shutter speed way past where someone is “supposed to” hold it? Absolutely.

Did I run some of my favorite final images through the AI Enhancement filters in Lightroom? Unabashedly.

Do I really love these photos of folks taking in one of the darkest places on the planet? Yup.

All the best,
Alison
