a new peace

I’ve been thinking a lot about peace lately, and felt that was as good a reason as any to make it my word for the year.

It’s an interesting word choice for me, because the peace I’ve been thinking about is rooted in change.

You know when you wait for something for a long time, and when it finally comes you almost don’t believe it’s real?

That was me in January.

Hardly believing, but, with small acknowledgements, gradual shifts, and gentle recognition, slowly letting this new peace settle in.

My eldest daughter, Carrie, said something to me last month that I feel aligns perfectly with my word for this year:

“Let yourself feel every emotion and don’t question any of it.
You don’t need to have a reason for everything.”

She is so right.

There is peace in not knowing everything

There is peace in slow and small acknowledgements

There is peace in allowing change to shape us gently

There is peace in simply letting our emotions be

My wish for you this year is that peace will find you, even if you’re not waiting for it.

Until next time, peace to you,

Jacqui x
