The word reflect comes from Old French reflecter (“to bend back, turn back”), says wiktionary, and I think it’s interesting that the word we use to describe light being turned back from a reflecting surface is the same word we use for thinking deeply about something.
I always enjoy looking in puddles after the rain. It’s like another world down there (some of which are easier to photograph than others).

I’m travelling this week (for work, to Brussels), and find reflections in windows, waiting to board the plane and on the train from the airport.

While I was grabbing the obligatory above-the-clouds airplane wing shot, my phone tells me I need to clean its lenses. I think to myself that rather the airline needs to clean the windows, but it doesn’t really matter because the resulting effect was very cool.

The next morning I walk past the Place Rogier and marvel at the combination of sunlight and all these man-made squares and triangles.

And visiting the famous Grand Place I’m struck by the thought of how travelling throws what you think you know back at you, when you experience all these people living their lives perfectly well in perfectly different ways from you.
