An ode to the dimming light

Here are three photographs from a recent spring evening, when the light had turned to gold.

Darkness is on the way; a blue-black world waits in the wings.

But for now, the retreating sunlight glimmers and glistens.

The last remaining light clings to the leaves, illuminating the world as if for the last time.

Forms and shapes, the verdant green, they sparkle around me.

Trees which once seemed familiar now evoke the miraculous.

Were they always this beautiful, or was I simply too distracted to notice…once again?

Beauty announces herself as if for the first time, and I am grateful once again to be witness to it all.

Will the world shine with this brightness again?

Eyes wide open, Chinwe
