We had this snow, though

I sit here writing this with threats of severe thunderstorms looming, while also knowing that here in Minnesota it wouldn’t be terribly surprising if we had even one more round of snow before winter really gives up the ghost. The last few winters have been just pathetic in the snow arena. We’ve had bone-crunching cold, but very little to show for it – the worst flavor of winter, if you ask me.

But this year was pretty decent. We set no records, but we did have enough to warrant pulling the sleds from the rafters, throw the snow gear into the dryer so we could go back out into it all again later. We had a pretty good snow year this time around.

The kids need so little outdoor supervision or help any more, so I have tried as much as I can to make a point to go out and join them in their snow adventures. It’s often easier (and cozier) to not, but these moments of imagination, of daring and of joy are so so precious. It always ends up worth the runny nose I’m sure will come back inside with me.

How was your winter? Choosing to dive right into the next season instead? Don’t worry, I get that too. Just couldn’t let a good snowfall pass without giving it a bit of a nod.

All the best,
Alison
