A window is not a window

I’ve been doing an informal photo a day with my phone. At times it starts to feel like I am taking photos of the same things. It’s true. Many of my daily photos are of the same or similar things, over and over again. I am okay with that because they also are never really the same, because what draws me is often not the thing itself, but the way the thing plays with light and time. The subject stays the same but everything else is changing.

A window is not a window. It’s a texture. It’s a reflection.

This snake plant is in constant conversation with the window light.

Architecture becomes something new when viewed in puddles after a storm.

Walls become frames for reflected and refracted light.

The sky is always changing.

Same command. Different world.

Shadows like this only show up in the morning and evening and then I can’t get enough of them.

A bouquet of flowers changes daily.

It will all change again tomorrow. I’ll be there.
