early morning strolls

Lately, my mornings look a little different. My camera, which once accompanied me almost everywhere, now spends less time in my hands, which are happily full holding my new grandbaby.  I have the joy of watching her most mornings, and while this means less time for photography, she has given me new eyes with which to see the world.

We usually venture out to our local botanical gardens and walk in the early morning hours.  The gardens are so peaceful then, the paths nearly empty except for us.  I get to see gardens I have been going to for decades through her wonder and awe.  I also get to enjoy the slower pace she demands as she sleeps sweetly in her stroller.

“Beauty surrounds us, but usually we need to be walking in a garden to know it.” -Rumi

I would like to step out of my heart and go walking beneath the enormous sky.  -Rainer Maria Rilke

I may not be taking as many photographs these days, but I am capturing moments just the same.
