Dan and I took a wonderful driving vacation up the Hudson River valley in New York state last month, seeing stately historic mansions, views from the tops of mountains, the silhouette of New York City looking south along the river, shining like a distant Emerald City, and enjoying the quirky and colorful storefronts in the town of Hudson. When we arrived home, we were greeted with a flourishing garden showing off summer blooms.
