My last post was all about finding and sharing photos from the past. It started getting a bit long, so I decided to break it up into two parts. Here are the remainder of the photos I managed to find in my deep dive through my Lightroom catalog:

2017

During this point in 2017, I was working on my Jar of Inspiration project where I would take a photo everyday of the month based on a certain theme. This was from my month of seeking out reflections and I remember being stuck on what to photograph that day, so I grabbed the hand mirror from my bathroom drawer. The kids were across the street at the park flying kites, so I took the mirror out to see what might happen and this image was one of many I made that day.

2020

This was the 2nd baby that I had the privilege of photographing for this family. Sweet Gus was so sleepy that our newborn photos were a breeze. It wasn’t until the end of the photo shoot that he decided to wake up and let us hear his voice.

2021

My husband was out of town, so I was the one taking my daughter to school this day. We were passing the spot where the hot air balloons were taking off and on a whim, I decided to pull off into the parking area near the pond. We didn’t have long because I didn’t want her to be late, so we jumped out of the car and I snapped a few images with my phone camera before heading on our way.

2022

My son played a lot of baseball over his high school career and I found myself on the sidelines on many of occasions photographing the team and his friends. I love this one from a beautiful fall day where everyone was focused on the action at the plate.

2023

A candid moment from a family photo session. This little cutie is watching his younger twin siblings get ready for their moment in front of the camera.

2024

Our sweet puppy, Joey, finally learning to lay down and rest without us having to put him in his crate for down time.

2025

From my classroom where my students are learning about long exposure. I’m using my phone camera in this shot so that I can show them how they can also achieve long exposures using apps like Slow Shutter.

In between then and now, I got inspired to continue looking through my Lightroom catalog and learned a new trick along the way. For the month of July, I decided that it would be fun to share a photo on Instagram everyday that lived in my archives. I called the project “Second Light.” During that process, I discovered that I could schedule posts in advance and got all my photos cued up to arrive each day at varying times. It was very satisfying to see the images pop in and how people interacted with them. It was also interesting to see how the time of day or the subject matter influenced how many people liked or commented on them. I know I’ll be using the scheduling feature again as I spend more time going through my Lightroom archives.
