Finding a way to feel this sadness and yet at the same time embrace hopefulness has been my struggle. On the one hand, I am inclined toward resourcefulness and determination and the use of any tool at my disposable to make a positive change, and on the other, I am shattered by the knowledge that this world is forever changed. I worry for my children and the future we leave to them, and then I remember just what your quote references . . . this world has always been broken. And our life’s work is not to make everything all better, but to make it some better. Making art is surely a way to make things better.
