Sensory Overload

We just returned from a trip to Seattle, a place with a much different climate and vibe than that of our Midwest home, Kansas City. We spent time both in the city and away, exploring urban landscapes as well as state parks and surrounding forests. Sorting through my photos, I see so many different story lines; each day brought its own rhythm and activity–sensory overload of the very best sort.

I relied primarily on my mirrorless camera (Fuji X100F) to document our adventures, filling in with my iPhone here and there. I also took along my compact Rollei 35S film camera, which had been languishing on the shelf for far too long.

Here is a little peek into the days as seen through my lens.

As you can see, we enjoyed a wide range of experiences during this week-long vacation. If you haven’t visited Seattle or the Pacific Northwest region, now’s the time to add it to your list! And if you have, tell me about your favorite spots for photo inspiration in the comments below.

  1. What a gorgeous vacation! Your images are stunning.

    • Thank you! It was fun to explore some new spots this time. The forests in the PNW are other-worldly!

  2. Your photos are lovely! My daughter lives there, and I love visiting. It’s such a different landscape from NY. My favorite place to photograph last time I visited was West Seattle. I had a day to myself and took the water taxi out and hit the beach at low tide. I’ll be back for a few days in September and can’t wait!

    • Ahhh, I’ve heat to make it to West Seattle! I need to get out there next time. Have fun on your next visit! (It would be fun to meet up there sometime 😁)
