I had hoped to have time to develop some film for today’s post, but that didn’t happen, so I’m sharing some family time instead. One of our daughters lives on other side of the country, and she came home over Labor Day weekend, bringing the rest of us much joy. Our other daughter lives a short drive away, but she came to stay for most of the weekend too. Having all of us together under one roof for a few days is one of the best gifts they can give us. My husband/their father and I feel like our ducklings are all in a row, and we sleep very well.
We spent those days staycationing. We went to the county fair. We visited their grandparents. We hiked up Mount Greylock. We saw some performance art. We played a board game. We went to a floating circus on the Hudson River. We had a tour of a nearby Shaker site. We ate delicious food. We spent good time in each others company.
Once upon a time I documented everything we did together, and I was pretty good at it. Now I am out of practice. I forget to take photos, and when I do I don’t take enough to make sure I have the photo I am looking for. So I feel like these are a jumble but really, it’s the time we spend together that matters, and the photos are here to help us remember.

Back in my empty nest…

So beautiful, Deirdre. I feel this fully. That time spent together is so special.
I could feel your smiles from this side of the pond. Big grins.
I love them all.
An inspiration for me to shoot my family more.
This made me smile! It’s such a gift to have everyone home. I love how you documented the weekend adventures! I’m inspired to get back into that groove myself.
I agree with Laura, what a gift! Love the Polaroids 🙂
