I absolutely love Sundays. We wake up and do some gentle yoga. We make our breakfast and coffee and head out to the front porch for what we have cleverly coined “Front Porch Time”. Andy and I sit out there for a few hours, reading the LA Times, the New Yorker, and playing our New York Times games – Wordle, Connections, and the Crossword Puzzle. It is such a lovely, slow morning, and I relish it. One of my favorite sections of the LA Times is the “How to Have the Best Sunday in LA.” The LA Times asks a famous or well-known Angeleno what their perfect Sunday would look like. We like to compare the restaurants they enjoy and the shops they go back to. While thinking about what my Viewfinders post would look like this month, I thought it would be fun to share what my favorite Sunday would look like, only I would do my day on a Saturday because, as I have shared, I like to stay in my pajamas all day Sunday.

We started with a yummy breakfast from Seed. We love all the pastries and breads they have available at this small, local bakery. As per their website, “SEED Bakery follows an old-world tradition of long fermenting and baking bread. Starting with organic grains freshly milled whole with a natural levain (no commercial yeast) in the long slow fermentation period.” Seed is take-out only, so we brought home the amazing croissant breakfast sandwich and had some Front Porch Time.

After breakfast, we got dressed and ready for a fun day out in LA. Our first stop was Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena. They have a large selection of books and are always prepared to help out the neighborhood. It is a landmark in Pasadena. They even have a coffee shop and a bar in the bookstore. Right now, I am reading Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab, Mark Twain by Ron Chernow, and Why We Can’t Sleep by Ada Calhoun.

I had a roll of film to drop off, so we headed to Eagle Rock Camera & Goods to hand it over to The Photo Dept Lab. Eagle Rock Camera & Goods offers a great selection of film cameras for purchase, along with some fantastic photo books.

We then went down to Los Feliz. It is a trendy little section of LA that has great book stores, thrift shops, and small restaurants to enjoy. It is fun to walk in and out of the shops and a great spot to bring your camera.

After a day of errands and adventures, we were ready for dinner. One of my favorite restaurants right now is Mirate. Per its website, “Mirate is dedicated to preserving and uplifting Mexican culture through thoughtful innovation of food and beverage.” If you are looking for a new tequila or want to try some new offerings, Mirate is the spot to go. The bartenders are very helpful and love what they do. The food is off-the-charts delicious, and I always leave with a small bag of their tortillas.

We ended the night with a nightcap at Dresden Restaurant and Lounge. While I love getting dinner here, they also have a great vintage jazz bar with live jazz every night.

I really enjoyed my day in LA. I love my city, and I could do 20 of these with different new and delicious places each week. We have so much to offer. What do you love about the city you live in?
