Over the summer, my family and I traveled to Paris to explore one of our favorite cities. It’s been over twenty five years since either my husband or I wandered the arrondissements and never together until now. We were delighted to share the experience with our children this time. I’d forgotten how incredible the light is and I decided to capture it on 35mm Lomo Purple.

The pink light, the architecture, the trees, and the views moved me; I couldn’t wait to explore each day with my camera in hand. I don’t speak French, but I understood the most soulful elements of the city.

“Paris is a love letter to the senses.” I stumbled across this quote while researching the city and I couldn’t stop thinking of it the entire time we were there. The city, the people, the food, the music, and the art were enchanting.

Whimsy and delight.

Although the Metro and train system were wonderful, I think I loved walking the most so that I could truly appreciate the pulse of the city. As Hemingway stated so wonderfully, “…Paris is a moveable fest.”

Somewhere in Paris someone is playing La Vie En Rose and I think of the movie, Sabrina (1954), “Only in Paris, where the light is pink, can that song make sense.” 35mm Lomo Purple understood the assignment.

I’m deeply grateful we were able to share in this experience as a family and I can’t wait to return with more film!
