summer visitors

The cliche about living on Cape Cod is that you’ll inevitably be inundated with summer visitors who want to enjoy the Cape Cod experience without having to pay for the high hotel rates. We don’t have that problem so much — most of our family live far away, or don’t want to sit in the mind-numbing summer traffic over the Cape Cod Canal.

But we’ve had other visitors this summer, seeking meals and water and garden vegetables, and messing up the house, whether they were invited or not….

A raccoon enjoying the birdseed
A nuthatch who flew inside the house
The local turkeys and their 10 babies
A tiny red squirrel
A beautiful butterfly
A posing grey squirrel
And Bambi!

Also woodchucks, chipmunks, hungry birds, nightly coyotes, foxes, and so many other amazing creatures. Just like summertime visitors, we enjoy them while they’re here and don’t mind when they go home or hibernate for the winter season.

Here’s to our furry and feathered family and friends!
