This year I have had the opportunity to wander down streets in many cities in many countries. Some of them have been snowy streets, and some have been ancient streets. Some have been more colourful than others. I’ve looked at reflections, at shadows, at lights in the dark.

This year I needed crampons to get around the icy streets of Tromso, in the Arctic Circle; and I used huge outdoor lifts (elevators) to navigate the steep hills of Cagliari. There’s nothing more exciting than arriving in a new and unknown city, with a few days to explore.

But I also enjoy revisiting a familiar city, to see what has changed, and what has stayed the same. Renovated museums to visit; different restaurants to try; unfamiliar neighbourhoods to explore. There’s an old saying that you can’t step into the same river twice. You could say the same about a city. Ambling around city streets never gets old, because there’s always something new to see, or to be inspired by.
You know how much I love to wander through a city with my camera! These are really beautiful! Wish I’d been wandering with you!
Thank you! How I wish we could have wandered together!
I agree! My favorite part of traveling is walking the streets! Beautiful images, especially Cagliari…
Thank you!
I love all the different textures and colors you captured, and your placement images you selected to be side by side. So inspiring to learn more about your travels!
Thank you! I loved reflecting on our busy summer of travel by writing this post!
These are fabulous! And dare I admit, I had to look up crampons – I had something else in mind entirely! Always happy to be educated 🙂
Thank you! Ha! I didn’t know what they were either and then they became essential!
