Over the summer, I carried a little half-frame camera with me as I’d been wanting to experiment with diptychs (and triptychs) for a while. I hadn’t used the Olympus Pen EE-2 for many years, and had forgotten how much I like this cute little camera.
I wandered around my neighbourhood with it on the cooler days.

And in January I took it on a train trip into the country to visit my daughters new hometown.

My favourite pics (after the one of my dog, of course!) were those shot through the carriage window.

The dry summer landscape,
with its gentle rises and fields of baled hay

the low scrubland and trees,
awash with summer colour

and the quiet presence of salt lakes,
all just slipping by.

I definitely haven’t mastered the art of the multi-panel format, I really need to work on my composition skills, ha! But I did have fun trying to imagine the images alongside each other before seeing them side by side. Next time, and there will definitely be a next time, I will be more aware of my placement for the final images.

What have you been playing with lately? Are you a fan of diptychs, triptychs or any other polyptych?
Until next time,

Love them all! Those blues in the skies are out of this world…!
Thank you, Maite!
These are fabulous! And when did our children get to be old enough to live in different cities from us?
Thank you!
I know what you mean. Time moves so quickly. It’s crazy!
Oh, these are so lovely together! I love the image of your sweet dog, the flowers, the trees and the landscapes. How many rolls have you taken with this camera? After reading another Viewfinders post, I purchased a different half-frame camera but will look up the Olympus Pen EE-2. I’ve only taken one roll but am motivated to now try again.
Thanks Carolyn, I’ve taken a few rolls with this camera now. It’s not one I reach for regularly but it is fun and such an easy one to shoot.
